METHOD STATEMENT CLEANING

ACTIVITY GENERAL CLEANING (COMMERCIAL)

EQUIPMENT/PERSONNEL INVOLVED (Cleaning)

All personnel involved with Cleaning duties are conversant with
Health & Safety Regulations and First Aid.
All Staff are provided with protective headwear/tabards/high visibility vests
Sensible footwear should be worn at all times

The Equipment involved in the above is as follows:

Cleaning
Brushes/ mops and buckets.
Bleach, polishes and associated materials.
Protective Clothing i.e. hard hats, protective jackets are provided.
First Aid Box
Dust Masks
Vacuum Cleaner/s

OBJECTIVE

To Clean the Interior of both show homes and Builders first Cleans in an efficient and safe manner workman like manner.

METHOD

Before commencing works all chemicals are to be checked to ensure no spillage has taken place and that the seals are in a secure manner.

LOW RISK risk of personal injury i.e. burns to hands, the Supervisor should use the first aid equipment available, in the case of an accident the Site Foreman must be informed immediately.

The Supervisor is to ensure that all employee’s and himself/herself are dressed in accordance with the Company’s requirements, and Health and Safety requirements.

LOW RISK Failure to adhere to the correct dress code could result in an accident, the employee has a responsibility in Law to adhere to Health and Safety regulations.

The Site Foreman MUST be informed that we have attended site no works to commence without his/her authorisation.

LOW RISK It is very important that the Site Foreman is aware of our presence for Fire and Health & Safety requirements.

Before commencing a first Clean or a re-clean, ensure that any other trades (where applicable) are aware of our presence and activity.

LOW RISK Other trades are not usually on site at the time of a first clean or re-clean.

Commence Cleaning the floor areas, and or removing any protective floor coverings (if applicable), ensure that masks are worn at all times, start from the 1st floor areas and work down to ground floor, ensuring all windows are open, yet secured by their fixings, all debris to be swept up, all stickers, labels from sanitary ware and kitchen units to be carefully removed, any surplus grout to be removed from tiled areas placed in a waste bag provided and removed from site.

Commence to wash tiled areas/unit tops/sanitary ware with soapy water, ensuring that the water is not too hot, wipe down with a clean dry cloth. apply bleach to all toilet areas, ensuring protection provided is used.

RISK MEDIUM RISK Potential accident by the use of bleach, to hands or eyes.

Commence to clean all electrical sockets and light switches, by the use of a dry cloth. Wash by means of soapy water, ensuring that the water is not too hot all windowsills/bedroom furniture and skirting boards etc.
NEVER ATTEMPT TO CLEAN ANY ELECTRICAL DEVICE THAT IS NOT COMPLETE OR SECURE

Commence to dust and polish interior doors and balustrades, with duster and polishes provided.

Commence to mop clean all floor areas, with water and detergents provided, ensure
that no unauthorised personnel are allowed into the property whilst this operation being carried out, or whilst the floors are drying, take care that you carry out these works carefully and communicate to your fellow employees to avoid an accident i.e. slipping or falling.

RISK MEDIUM RISK Potential accident could occur with a slip or a fall on a wet
Surface.

Once all works have been completed remove all equipment away from the property, ensuring that all bleach substances are sealed correctly, inform the Site Foremen that the works have been completed, and are ready for inspection.

LOW risk of Fire, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS SMOKING ALLOWED WHILST WORKING ON SITE FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN INSTANT DISMISSAL.
